Sunday Funday!

Today we traveled to the island of Brännö. To get there we first took a small walk down the street to catch the first tram and get on the second tram. Due to work being done on the railways we waited for a bus to take us the rest of the way.

The ferry ride provided plenty of space for everyone to get a different view of the ride. We sat in the top of the ferry inside where there was a small cafe shop to buy drinks and snacks. We enjoyed our short ride to the island with the sun shining on our faces.

When arriving to the island we started our adventure. We first stopped for a few pictures and looked at a map. We traveled through the neighborhoods and along the roads which are actually quite small. Because of the location, people that live on the island travel everywhere on bicycles and walking. There are no personal cars and very very few cars.

When we found the road “Bad” and naturally we followed. We headed towards “Susie’s cove” which is a hidden area with rocks overlooking the ocean where we stopped to have a picnic that we packed before leaving. We originally planned to go to a restaurant on the island but unfortunately they were closed for renovation. Despite the change in lunch plans, lunch was great with a beautiful view. After our lunch we cleaned up and took a few more pictures.

We continued to go down the path we came from and hit a dead end. We decided then to turn back around and take our time heading back to where we would meet the rest of the group to get on the ferry. The group enjoyed the beginning of the sunset and waiting for the last ferry of the day to make the stop. When we got on the ferry we watched the rest of the sunset.

We headed back to the hostel to get ready for dinner at Karlson’s Garage. We all met to walk over to the hostel at 6:20 pm. We were instantly welcome by the owner and shown to our reserved tables. We all switched up seating and sat with people that weren’t our roommates. Karlson’s has Swedish meatballs that are well known. I went with a classic fish and chips but the meatballs did look good.

Tomorrow is our first day of company visits and meeting with the students at the university of Sweden. I’m so excited to get to learn more about Skapa and talk to university students.
